Why did the Nokia N-Gage fail?

While there are numerous reasons for why the N-Gage failed (the awkward shape and controls, poor selection of games, bad functionality, and short battery life are a few) they are all rooted in the same problem. Nokia simply did not do sufficient product and market research before launching the N-Gage.

Can you still use an N-Gage?

The N-Gage was discontinued in February 2006, with Nokia moving its gaming capabilities onto selected Series 60 smartphones. This was announced as the N-Gage platform or “N-Gage 2.0” in 2007, carrying on the N-Gage name.

Can I play 3D games on N-Gage devices?

While in the future some games may be specifically designed for a dedicated 3D graphics chip, all of Nokia’s announced next generation N-Gage games should be fully playable on the full range of N-Gage ready devices.
