The FAA has certified the FMX as an Advanced Aviation Training Device which means that instrument hours can be earned using the simulator. The FMX has been designed so that it can fit through standard door ways and has been setup in one of MMA’s classrooms.

How much does a flight simulator setup cost?

The biggest cost of setting up a flight simulator is the computer (see below). Once you have the basics controls (also see below), you can begin adding accessories. You can start with a basic setup for around $1044 (excluding a computer and monitor) as shown in this article, and build on it as you go.

Do flight simulator hours count?

Never log experience in the “flight time” category. While some LOA’s allow for the use of simulator experience in “Total Time” to credit towards certification, it is generally not recommended to count this time in this way. Simply add applicable times when completing the FAA 8710 to avoid errors and possible confusion.

What is an Aircraft Training Sim used for?

It is used for high end training in our high performance aircraft. This includes jet training, turboprop training, large twin engine training and complex aircraft training. We wanted to give an actual aircraft feel that some sims just do not do.

How do you train for a twin engine aircraft?

The best way to do that is in the sim. Instrument attitude flying should be “automatic”, without thought. You need to be able to hold tight parameters. At the very least, stay current on instruments and train every six months. Again, and most importantly, we suggest if you fly a twin engine aircraft that you train for the worst.

Why do we train your aircraft?

We train to help you save your passengers and your aircraft. Our custom built full six degrees of motion simulator is fully enclosed and creates total movement and actual flight characteristics. It is used for high end training in our high performance aircraft.

How to prepare for aircraft simulator training for recurrent?

If you are coming to Aircraft Simulator Training for recurrent training you, should have a working knowledge of the aircraft and be good on the gauges. In recurrent training, we do not believe in going over the same thing you have done in initial training. That would be a waste of your time.
