Do I need UPS for Synology?
You need UPS protection for your router, switches and your desktop computer, if you’re using one. If you can’t connect them to the same UPS as the DiskStation, you’ll need separate ones. Due to its higher power requirements, it’s probably best to have a dedicated UPS for your desktop PC too.
What is Synology safe mode?

Is the Synology be600m1 enough for my ds418?
It will be more than enough as far as your DS418 is concerned. Hmm, having trouble locating the BE600M1 for the UK, and Synology seems to be more fussy about the DS418 than the other 18 Series devices, when it comes to rating its compatibility with the various UPSs. Don’t know why that should be.

One device that is in the compatibility list for the DS418 is the CyberPower BR700ELCD, but curiously the list notes that “The UPS automatic shutdown feature is currently not supported”. Without that support, how can it even be considered compatible, or would it be talking about something other than the ability to trigger the NAS into action?
