to iknow_t. said by iknow_t: if you don’t have reduced light between the fixtures with the smaller diameter bulbs, then your fixtures must be close together. the BR40 bulbs are 5″ in dia. and you are replacing them with BR30 bulbs, which are 3 3/4″ in dia. so they won’t spread the light as much.
