What is AE and CE type reactor difference?
Matthew Barrera
Updated on April 02, 2026
The CE type Glass lined reactors have a single piece construction and are manufactured as per DIN 28136 standard. Apart from agitator compatibility, they are more or less similar to AE type reactors in functionality. The reactor vessel is provided with all necessary accessories such as agitator, thermowell, etc.
What is the GLR reactor?
Glass lined Reactors (GLR’s) have a glass (enamel) coating on the product wetted surfaces to provide high levels of chemical resistance to said surfaces. Glass Lined Reactors have a very high corrosion resistance against inorganic acid, organic acid and organic solvents with different concentrations.
Why glass lined reactors are used?
Glass Lined reactors are primarily used for carrying out critical chemical processes where corrosion resistance and chemical inertness are of critical importance. Steel reactors, whilst very important in the industry, have many drawbacks compared to the glass lined options.
Why glass lined reactor color is blue?
A: The blue coloring comes from the cobalt that was added to the glass formulations a long time ago. Usually the choice of which color to use comes down to concerns about cleaning and what particles could be left behind.
What is thickness of GLR reactor?
A guide thickness is 2mm which allows for the corrosion of via chemical reactions in the vessel.
What is Spark Test in glass lined reactor?
Spark testing is a standard procedure used for inspecting glass-lined equipment. During testing, the entire glass-lined surface is examined, and any chips, cracks, pinholes and other defects are documented and marked for repair. There are two apparatuses available for spark testing – DC and AC spark testers.
What is thickness of glass lined reactor?
Which glass thickness is used for glass lined reactors? A guide thickness is 2mm which allows for the corrosion of via chemical reactions in the vessel.
Why glass lined reactors are white in Colour?
Corrosion resistance is low compared to Dark blue colour. White Glass lining is used for that types of Processes in which colours are changing in process.
How glass lined reactor are made?
Production of the Glass Each batch of enamel is comprised of carefully selected and rigidly controlled raw materials, which are melted in a rotary furnace at about 2,500°F (1,400°C). The melted glass in then poured into water. This sudden tempering breaks the enamel into particles called “frit”.
What are the different types of reactors?
Main types of nuclear reactor
- Pressurised water reactor (PWR)
- Boiling water reactor (BWR)
- Advanced gas-cooled reactor (AGR)
- Light water graphite-moderated reactor (LWGR)
- Fast neutron reactor (FNR)
- Nuclear power plants in commercial operation or operable.
How many types of reactors are there?
The two main types of reactor are termed batch and continuous.
How do you clean glass lined reactors?
DDPS Solutions for Glass-Lined Vessels For very small volume reactors, cleaning can be achieved simply by filling the vessel with cleaning solution, waiting a period of time (during which the agitator can be employed), and draining it. However, on larger vessels the “soak method” is too timely and expensive.
Why choose Dede Dietrich glass lined reactors?
De Dietrich glass-lined reactors have been at the heart of chemical operations for over a century. These are robustly designed and manufactured to stand up to very harsh environments.
Why choose Dede Dietrich process systems?
De Dietrich Process Systems can provide glass-lined reactors to meet a wide variety of chemical processes, volume requirements (from laboratory scale and pilot plant sizes up to very large production units), incorporating local design and international code requirements (ASME, AD2000, GB150, JIS…)
What is the Pharma reactor?
An innovative reactor for optimal cleanability, the Pharma Reactor combines all of the best technologies developed by De Dietrich Process Systems.
What is a glass-lined reactor?
De Dietrich glass-lined reactors have been at the heart of chemical operations for over a century. These are robustly designed and manufactured to stand up to very harsh environments. The (typically) carbon-steel shell is designed and built to ASME code and then lined internally with our proprietary 3009 Glass .
